I need a good (cheap) guitar for grunge/punk music? What should I get?

I want a tone like Nirvana and Dinosaur Jr. I also want it to have nice clean tones as well, and be comfortable to play. I'm thinkking on a Squier Telecaster, but I'm not sure if that would work. What do you think? My amp is a Raven RG-100 and my pedals are a Boss Ds-1 and 2, Electro Harmonix Big Muff, and Digitech Grunge. I need something that will produce good tones with one of those. Any suggestions? I'm having a hard time finding what I want. I am currently using a Fender Mustang, but want something else. I'm on a pretty limited budget right now too. Thanks!
