Is 'Leigh' pronounced LEE or LAY?

My little cousin(she is 7) has been getting alot of ridicule at her school because of her name. her name is Leighla. Her parents wanted it pronounced LAY-lah. but everyone even teacher always say LEE-lah. an it really bother her and her parents. Ho is it supposed to be pronounceded, and what sounds better. LAY-lah or LEE-lah?
